Even 15 years ago Colibri's quality was considered top notch. I have a torch lighter than I bought in 2004 that still works great today and no issues. So, when I wanted a soft flame lighter I didn't think twice to buy this Colibri. I did see lots of negative reviews, but I thought that maybe the reviewers had no idea what they were talking about. Nope. They were right. This thing is a piece of junk. Takes me 5-7 tries to get the thing to light and when it does light the flame goes out a lot and even changes size (like shrinks in size then goes out!). It's total garbage dont buy it and you can be sure I'm staying away from Colibri my next time around. It was a great lighter until the valve failed after 11 months. The valve just stays open and lets gas out completely in about 1 minute. I tried to fix it with no success. Rather expensive for less than a year of useful life. This item arrived well packaged in a very nice box, but the actual finish on the item was blemished. Poor QC on the part of Colibri for letting it out of the factory.Great reliable lighter. 90 degree angle makes lighting my pipe comfortable. Have had the lighter for 2 months and it still lights on the 1st click. I had 2 cheaper lighters that would take 10 to 20 attempts to ignite... not a problem with this one.Note: I switched from a butane can I bought at a hardware store to a premium brand: Colibri, and one of the cheaper lighters is working better. Not a scientific trial but worth mentioning.had to send it back after having it for one month. sucks that you have to send a check for $9.50 when it is under warranty. I got a new one back soon but they gave me one with a different finish than the one I bought and sent in to them. it has been working great so I kept it.It doesn’t work. It takes multiple strikes (10+ times) to ignite. The lighter is garbage.Looks very nice, seems to work good so far, only had it one week. This lighter no longer lights. Have to click 7-10 times for it to light.Looks like a weak spark.I have a 50 years old colibri lighter that still work!I bought a new one with electonic ignition, it lasted 4 months!Contacted the vendor, he refered me to ''Colibri Warranty Service''... it cost me 20$ for shipping, they received it and returned it as is, not even open the package! Try to contact them, no answer... what a great company! (Sarcasm). The seller Ignite Canada is no better. They refer me to the Warranty service, and they didn't even reply once I've inform them of the outcome ot using the waranty service as told by Ignite Canada. It"s suppose to be 2 years warranty.Don't ever buy ''quality lighter'' with electronic ignition, because it won't last, and isn't worth the price.DON'T EVER BUY FROM IGNITE CANADA.Bought this recently and I find that it’s a pain to light. It often takes 6-10 strikes before it lights, definitely not the “near 100%” claimed in the ad.Since writing this original review I have found that the lighter works very well indoors. The slightest breeze and it won’t light. The problem now is that the lighter has literally fallen apart. I have found no way of reaching the vendor so hopefully someone will read this review and think, “hey, maybe we should reach out to this unhappy customer.”When It arrived I thought it would be a lighter that would last, especially for the price. It worked fine up until just after the 'last return date' (a Month after in fact) when the sparking mechanism stiopped working. If you smoke a pipe and need to light a lot this particular lighter may not be for you. I have reverted back to using a lighter I purchsed in the 1990s which uses a flint rather than an electronic lighting system. It holds lots of fuel, reliable, and even has a tamper.
