Works very well for me. Gets my dense oak wood burning in a few minutes, then I can turn off the gas. The air mixing port results in blue flame. Mounted with gas holes toward side to reduce ash clogging. Should have mounted the air port pointing to side rather than up, where it can clog with ashes. Will adjust at some point. Like the flexibility of the two optional connecting ports. Hope to be able buy a replacement pipe rather than the whole unit when the pipe gives out. Oak gives very hot long lasting coals. But so far holding up well.
